Still Flowing

Arts and Culture Salon on the 5th Floor of Taipei City Government Youth Bureau

As the first time serving as both curator and participant in a joint exhibition, I have gained a more different and diverse perspective on the experience to be presented to the audience.

Taiwan Contemporary Art Exhibition

"Flow" is a series of works by Taiwanese abstract artist Kate Huang, using plaster as the primary medium. The flowing paint, in its chaotic, hazy, and abundant state before solidification, constructs a space of emotion that is both strong and fragile. Through the encapsulating nature of plaster and the transparency of glass, the artist explores the themes of "fragility, encapsulation, and rebirth," transforming emotions from uncaptured fluctuations deep within the heart into shapes that can be observed and understood.

Solo Exhibition: Heart. Wave

Some memories will never disappear.

Like waves, they come back again and again at different times.

Sometimes it's very light, just passing by;

Sometimes it will suddenly surge up.
It allows one to return to a certain moment.

"Heart. Waves" is not about depicting the sea.
Instead, it depicts emotions related to people.

About family, about friends, about people I once loved,
Those moments we experienced together,
It is preserved in time.
It becomes an existence that will not completely fade away.

We thought it was all in the past.
But in reality, they just retreated to a relatively far place.

When a certain smell, a certain image, or a certain melody appears,
They will come close again.

In this exhibition, each piece is like a fragment of an emotion.

They don't necessarily have to be complete, nor do they need to be organized into a clear story.

It's more like—
As you walk past these scenes, at some point,
Encounter memories that belong to you.

Those feelings that come and go are like waves.

It doesn't need to be caught, nor will it truly disappear.

"Hengcai Blooms" Solo Exhibition

Some emotions don't actually have names.

They do not belong to a single state.

Rather, they exist simultaneously in different aspects.

Sometimes gentle, yet also powerful;
Sometimes freedom comes with unease;
Sometimes things appear calm, but they are actually in motion.

"Hengcai Yuzhan" is not describing a particular appearance.
Instead, it tries to present these intersecting states.

"衡" does not mean balanced between two extremes.
Rather, it is a position that still exists amidst change.

"Color" is not just about colors.
It also represents the unfolding of emotions at different levels.

"Blooming" is like a release after accumulation—
Those feelings that have been suppressed, hidden, or yet to be spoken,
It slowly emerged at some point.

In this exhibition,
Each work is not a fixed answer.
Rather, it is a state that is happening.

You don't need to understand it.
There is no need to find the correct explanation.

When you stand in front of the artwork,
What you feel is who you are right now.

Contemporary artist Huang Yanheng's works have gained international recognition.

Dental artist Huang Yen-heng transforms the meticulous observations he makes in his medical profession into creative nourishment. In his "Flourishing Colors" series, he uses the textures of plaster and mixed media to explore the balance between "blossoming" and "contraction" in life, presenting a moving journey from rational structure to emotional blossoming.

【Flourishing Colors】Huang Yanheng Solo Exhibition: Presenting the Joy of Life in Full Bloom

Stepping from his clinic into his art studio, Huang Yanheng sees plaster as a language for healing the soul. The report points out that his works not only showcase the diversity of media, but also capture the subtle yet beautiful emotions in life through the interplay of color and line, opening a window to inner peace and joy for viewers.

Afterglow Studio is where I find solace amidst the ever-changing tides of my soul.

A tranquil harbor opened up for myself.

Here, emotions are imprinted on the canvas, and vulnerability is caught by plaster.

This is a private creative space that is not open to the public.

The aim is to preserve the purest space for contemplation, allowing each piece to exist in silence.

They slowly grow their own life energy.
